中小企業とZombie企業が日本経済の低迷要因なのか? ~日本と欧州5か国の多国間分析~

 本稿では中小企業とZombie企業が生産性に与える効果に関して、多国間(日本とフランス、ドイツ、イタリア、スペイン、そして英国)で各産業にわたる2011年から2019年の期間の企業財務データを用いた分析を行い、以下の結果を得た。第一に、Zombie企業は各国経済の生産性に有意に負の影響を与えているが、Zombie企業数の比率と資産比率は各国ともに対象期間に低下傾向を示している。第二に、Zombie企業が資本や人材を抱えこむいびつな競争による“混雑効果”は、非Zombie企業に対して、従業員数に関しては各国ともマイナス、設備投資には国によりプラス、又はマイナスの効果が確認された。第三に、TFP(全要素生産性)水準に関しては日本のみが非Zombie企業に対してプラスの影響を示し、Zombie企業と非Zombie企業の生産性格差拡大が明らかになった。最後に、Zombie企業が滞留することで生じる新規事業者への参入障壁について、日本ではTFP水準に対して若手企業(創業5年以下)においてより大きなギャップが確認でき、創業に負の影響を与えている可能性が示された。
