自動オフロードによる省電力評価

GPU、FPGA、メニーコアCPUなど、スモールコアCPU以外のヘテロジニアスハードウェアの利用が増えている。しかし、ヘテロジニアスハードウェアの利用には、CUDAの習熟度など、高い技術スキルの障壁がある。この課題を克服するために、私は以前、配置するハードウェアに応じて、一度記述したコードを自動変換、自動構成し、高性能かつ低電力で動作させる環境適応型ソフトウェアを提案した。また、GPUとFPGAの自動オフロードの性能向上も検証した。本稿では、自動オフロード後の電力使用状況を評価することで、環境適応による低電力動作を検証する。自動オフロード後の既存アプリケーションのワット*秒数をCPUのみで処理した場合と比較する。
