Interdependence in buyer-supplier relationships: definitions and measurement

Abstract

バイヤー・サプライヤー関係の研究では、相互依存(interdependence)は、よく使われるキーワードの一つであるが、その定義や測定項目はバラバラだった。本稿は文献サーベイの結果、相互依存を巡る研究には2系統(stream)があり、各系統で使われる測定項目にはある程度共通性があることも分かった。(1) Pfeffer & Salancik (1978)の資源依存理論を源流とするパワー関連の系統では、取引相手の売上に占める割合や、取引相手の代替可能性、スイッチングコストが用いられ、(2) Thompson (1967)の技術的相互依存性を源流とするタスク関連の系統では、取引されるインプットやアウトプットへの依存度が測定項目としてよく用いられる。ただし実際には、例えばトヨタ自動車のサプライヤー管理では、技術で決まる部分がある一方、資源依存を避けて複数サプライヤーを利用するなど両方の論理を実践している。
