Abstract

Moral Foundation Vignettes (MFV, Clifford et al., 2015) were developed to measure moral attitudes using vignettes of fictional persons who behave in a morally offensive manner, a method which has been applied in various studies. Here, we  present a Japanese version (MFV-J) of the Moral Foundation Vignettes (MFV, Clifford et al., 2015) and examine its validity. An analysis on the responses from 443 participants suggested that the best fit model was the nine-factor model, which the original study theoretically assumed. Construct validity was verified using the Japanese version of Moral Foundation Questionnaires (MFQ-J) and the results overall supported the hypothesis. Collectively, results confirm the validity of MFV-J.
