Nishorobo: Practices of Top-to-bottom Sectioning Activity utilizing GIGA-School Devices through Co-creating Web-Application for Spreading Charms of Residential Areas

Abstract

This paper proposes the project-based learning material ``Nishorobo-Kun'' in order to create new learning opportunities for integrated studies (inquiry) at elementary schools by utilizing GIGA-School devices. This learning material is based on the theme of the co-creation of the web application for spreading the charms of residential areas among elementary school students, elementary school teachers, municipality staff, community volunteers, members of the civic community, and university faculty. In this paper, we report on the results of introducing the developed learning material into top-to-bottom sectioning activity at Ikoma Municipal Ikoma Minami Daini Elementary School and practicing it in a real environment for one year in FY2021. Through the practice, high self-evaluations were obtained from the students, and spontaneous actions of the students were confirmed through observation, indicating that the developed teaching materials have certain educational effects.
