創業者のアイデンティティを引き継ぐ経営

株式会社垣内の創業者の垣内保夫は、「さまざまな機械を発明して第二のエジソンになりたい」というアイデンティティを形成した。それは後に「高知のエジソン」として地域に根付いた。現在の同社は、後継者がそれを強化して「機械のあらゆるニーズに応える高知のエジソンの遺伝子を引き継ぐ会社」という組織アイデンティティを形成している。そして、創業者のアントレプレナーシップを発展させて、ニッチトップメーカー向けの革新的な産業機械の受託製造、機能性と利便性に優れた独自製品の製造販売、産官学からの依頼による開発の三つをバランスさせる戦略を実践している。本論文では、同社の事例研究を通じて、創業者のアイデンティティを拠り所としたアントレプレナーシップが、後継者による戦略の策定と組織的実践に強く影響し、創業者のアイデンティティと同型な組織アイデンティティの形成を促したことを明らかにした。後継者が、創業者の進化したアイデンティティをもとに、戦略ワークと組織アイデンティティワークを両立したことを指摘した。
