This article examines writing practices in Japanese management academia through a four-author autoethnography. Drawing on a standpoint-informed approach, we explore how knowledge emerges from precarious positions and how shifts in positionality may distance us from our earlier critical perspectives. Through dialogic conversations and collaborative writing, we show how academic life is shaped by the uneven circulation of information and recognition. Using the metaphor of the kairanban (circular notice), we illustrate how access to knowledge and opportunities is informally distributed, often excluding those at the margins without their awareness. We also reflect on the ethical tensions of researching others while inhabiting both marginalized and privileged positions. Writing together becomes a way to remain in relation to past and present standpoints, while acknowledging the roots that connect us. Rather than offering closure, this article presents writing as an ongoing, collective practice that invites further voices and connections.
