自動オフロードアプリケーションのリソース量調整の検討と評価

抄録

Graphical Processing Unit (GPU)、Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)、メニーコア CPU など、小コアの中央処理装置 (CPU) 以外のヘテロジニアスハードウェアの利用が増えている。しかし、ヘテロジニアスハードウェアを利用するには、プログラマが OpenMP、CUDA、OpenCL を使いこなせるだけの技術力を持っている必要がある。これを踏まえ、筆者はこれまで、一度記述したコードを、配置するハードウェアに合わせて自動変換・構成し、高性能に動作させることを可能とする環境適応型ソフトウェアを提案してきた。しかし、オフロードデバイスに合わせてコードを変換することは検討されているものの、自動変換後にリソース量を適切に設定する方法は開発されていなかった。本稿では、環境適応型ソフトウェアの新たな要素として、アプリケーションを高コストパフォーマンスで動作させるために、CPU とオフロードデバイスのリソース量を最適化する方法を検討する。複数の既存アプリケーションのオフロードを通して、提案方法がユーザの要求を満たし、適切なリソース量を設定できることを実証する。
