環境適応ソフトウェアのサービス運用時におけるFPGA再構成に関する検討と評価

ハードウェアを利用するアプリケーションが増えている。しかし、これらを使いこなすにはOpenCLなどのハードウェアを使いこなす技術力が必要であり、高い障壁となっている。この課題を解決するため、私達はエンジニアが通常のCPU向けに記述したアプリケーションコードを、展開環境に合わせて自動変換し、適切な量のリソースを設定することで高性能な動作を可能にする環境適応ソフトウェアを開発し、FPGAやGPUに自動でオフロードする要素技術の検証を行ってきた。これまでは、運用開始前の変換や設定のみを検討していた。本稿では、運用中に利用特性に合わせてロジックを再構成することを検証する。特にFPGAロジックについては、運用中の再構成の例が商用クラウドになく、再構成の影響が大きいことから、今回はFPGAロジックの再構成に取り組んでいる。運用中にFPGAを再構成する手法を提案し、FPGA上で動作するアプリケーションが使用特性に合わせて別のアプリケーションに再構成されることを確認した。確認を通じて、性能向上や中断時間を確認し、手法が有効であることを示した。
